Unit price perAsparagus officinalis
A renowned French heirloom asparagus producing thick, rose purple stems with distinctive purple tipped spears. Celebrated for its excellent flavour, this variety is an early producer in spring and has long been prized in French cuisine. In France, spears are traditionally blanched under soil or covers to produce the pale, tender white asparagus often referred to as white gold. Plants are vigorous and long lived once established, making this a rewarding variety for permanent asparagus beds.

Planting / Sowing
Sow seed 1 to 2 cm deep into well drained, fertile soil in full sun. Keep soil evenly moist during germination, which may take several weeks. Thin or transplant seedlings to 30 to 45 cm apart, with rows spaced 90 to 120 cm apart. Avoid harvesting in the first year to allow crowns to fully establish. Well prepared soil and patience will reward growers with high quality spears for many seasons.
