Phaseolus vulgaris

A vigorous and highly productive bush bean producing bright, buttery yellow pods to around 16 cm. ‘Cherokee Wax’ is a stringless butter bean with tender pods and excellent flavour, well suited to fresh eating and cooking. Plants crop heavily and reach harvest in approximately 55 to 60 days. When allowed to mature, seeds dry to a distinctive black colour. A reliable, old fashioned variety valued for its productivity and ease of growing.

Approximately 70 seeds per packet

When to Plant (Australia)
Tropics: March to August
Subtropics: September to March
Mild climates: October to March
Cold climates: November to February

Planting / Sowing
Sow seed directly into well drained soil in a warm, sunny position after the risk of frost has passed. Sow seed 3 to 5 cm deep and space plants 20 to 25 cm apart, with rows 45 to 60 cm apart. Use successive sowings while frost free to extend the harvest period. Regular picking encourages continued production.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
