Eschscholzia californica

A graceful California Poppy producing elegant creamy ivory-white satin flowers that glow against finely divided silvery-grey foliage. Flowering generously over many months, Ivory Castle brings a softer, more refined palette to garden beds, borders, cottage gardens and wildflower plantings while retaining all the toughness and reliability California Poppies are known for.

Once established, plants readily self-sow and can provide effortless colour year after year. Flowers open with the morning sun and close again during overcast or rainy weather, creating a charming daily display. Hardy, drought tolerant and easy to grow, Ivory Castle thrives in poor soils and low-maintenance gardens where many other flowering plants struggle. The blooms are also attractive to bees and other beneficial insects.

Approximately 200 seeds per packet

When to Plant (Australia)
Tropics: Autumn to winter
Subtropics: Autumn to spring
Mild climates: Autumn, winter and spring
Cold climates: Spring and early summer

Planting / Sowing
Broadcast seed directly onto prepared soil and lightly press into the surface, or raise in pots and transplant carefully once seedlings are established. Position in full sun and avoid overly rich soils, which can encourage foliage growth at the expense of flowers. Keep moist during germination, then water only as required. Plants are drought tolerant once established and may self-seed freely if spent flowers are left to mature. Approximately 8–12 weeks to flowering.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
