Digitalis purpurea

Dwarf Foxy is a compact Foxglove producing beautiful upright flower spikes in a mixture of yellow, crimson, lavender, rose, red and white. Growing to approximately 45 cm tall, it provides all the cottage garden charm of taller Foxgloves in a much more compact form.

Unlike many traditional Foxgloves, which generally flower in their second year, Dwarf Foxy has been bred to flower in its first year when sown early enough. Its shorter stature makes it particularly useful for borders, smaller gardens and containers, while the colourful tubular flowers are highly attractive to bees and other pollinating insects.

Plants prefer cooler growing conditions and perform well in full sun to partial shade with fertile, well-drained soil and consistent moisture.

Seed count: approximately 10,000 seeds/g
Approximately 2,000 seeds per packet

When to Plant (Australia)

Tropics: Autumn to winter
Subtropics: Autumn to winter
Mild climates: Autumn and spring
Cold climates: Spring to early summer

Planting / Sowing

Sow the very fine seed onto the surface of moist seed-raising mix and press gently into place. Do not cover deeply, as light assists germination. Keep consistently moist until seedlings are established.

Transplant once seedlings are large enough to handle, spacing approximately 25–30 cm apart in full sun to partial shade. For first-year flowering, sow early enough to allow plants plenty of time to establish before the flowering season.

Foxglove is toxic if ingested. Take care when growing around children and pets and do not use any part of the plant for culinary purposes.

Due to quarantine restrictions, WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
