Medicago sativa, Hordeum vulgare, Vicia faba, Trifolium incarnatum, Trifolium repens, Pisum sativum, Lupinus spp., Echinochloa esculenta, Brassica juncea, Avena spp., Raphanus sativus, Secale cereale, Spinacia oleracea, Vicia spp., Triticum aestivum, Panicum miliaceum, Anethum graveolens, Vigna radiata, Brassica oleracea

A diverse cool-season green manure blend designed to build soil, add organic matter, protect bare ground and help suppress weeds between productive crops. Combining legumes, grains, brassicas, vegetables and herbs gives the mix a variety of root depths and growth habits, helping create both substantial above-ground biomass and active root growth below the soil.

The mix usually contains Alfalfa, Barley, Broad Bean, Crimson Clover, White Clover, Dun Pea, Lupin, Japanese Millet, Mustard, Oats, Tillage Radish, Rye, Spinach, Vetch, Wheat, White French Millet, Dill, Mung Bean and Kale, subject to seasonal availability.

Legumes within the mix can fix atmospheric nitrogen when associated with the appropriate soil bacteria, while vigorous grains and other species provide bulk organic matter and ground coverage. Tillage Radish contributes a strong taproot capable of penetrating compacted soil, while the diversity of species helps create a more resilient living cover than a single-species planting.

Not everything in the mix will mature or flower at the same time, and that's perfectly fine. Green manure is generally best cut as flowering begins, before plants put significant energy into mature seed production. Cut material can be left on the surface to break down as mulch or lightly incorporated into the top 5 cm of soil.

Allow approximately one month between cutting or incorporation and planting your next crop to give the organic material time to begin breaking down.

Planting / Sowing

Stir the seed mixture thoroughly before sowing, as the different seed sizes can settle during storage. Broadcast evenly over freshly cultivated soil and lightly rake into the surface. Water well after sowing and keep moist during establishment.

Cut the crop as flowering begins and leave it on the soil surface or lightly cultivate into the top 5 cm. For ongoing soil improvement, include green manure crops regularly within your crop rotation.

Mix composition may vary slightly according to seasonal seed availability.

Not available for TAS or WA due to quarantine restrictions.
