Xerochrysum bracteatum

Helichrysum Tall mix is a beautiful Australian native everlasting producing large, fully double, papery flowers in an excellent range of colours including yellow, gold, orange, pink, red, bronze and white. Growing to approximately 1 m tall, the upright plants provide a spectacular display through the warmer months.

Also known as Strawflower or Paper Daisy, the blooms are particularly prized for cutting and drying, retaining their colour and shape remarkably well in everlasting arrangements. In the garden, the flowers attract bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects.

Hardy and easy to grow, Helichrysum Tall Mix thrives in full sun and well-drained soil and is tolerant of heat and dry conditions once established. Regular picking or deadheading encourages continued flowering.

Seed count: approximately 1,400 seeds/g
Approximately 500 seeds per packet

When to Plant (Australia)

Tropics: Autumn to spring
Subtropics: Spring to autumn
Mild climates: Spring to early autumn
Cold climates: Spring after frost

Planting / Sowing

Sow directly or raise in trays, covering the fine seed only very lightly. Keep moist during germination and establishment.

Transplant or thin seedlings to approximately 25–30 cm apart in full sun and well-drained soil. For dried flowers, harvest stems when the blooms are beginning to open but before the centres are fully exposed, then hang upside down in a dry, well-ventilated place.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
