Raphanus sativus

White Daikon Radish is one of the most popular and reliable varieties for microgreen production, producing crisp white stems topped with fresh green leaves. Fast growing and vigorous, it provides a generous harvest of succulent shoots with the characteristic peppery flavour of fresh radish.

The young greens have a pleasantly spicy bite and crisp texture that makes them excellent in salads, sandwiches, wraps and burgers or as a garnish for soups, noodles and savoury dishes. Their clean green-and-white appearance also combines beautifully with colourful varieties in mixed microgreen blends.

Quick to germinate and easy to grow, Daikon Radish is an excellent choice for beginner microgreen growers. Its rapid development, strong germination and robust growth make it one of the easiest varieties for producing fresh greens at home throughout the year.

Planting / Sowing

For microgreens, sow seed densely over a moist growing medium and lightly cover or press firmly into the surface. Keep evenly moist during germination, then provide bright light and good airflow once seedlings emerge.

Harvest with scissors when the cotyledons are fully developed or as the first true leaves begin to appear, generally around 7–12 days after sowing. For baby leaf production, sow more thinly and allow plants to develop larger leaves before harvesting.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
