Brassica juncea

Garnet Giant Mustard is a striking heirloom variety producing broad, richly coloured leaves in deep shades of burgundy and purple. One of the darkest mustard varieties available for baby leaf production, it adds outstanding colour, texture and flavour to salads, mesclun mixes and gourmet greens.

Despite its dramatic appearance, Garnet Giant has a pleasantly mild mustard flavour when harvested young, becoming more robust and spicy as the leaves mature. The tender baby leaves are ideal for fresh salads and garnishes, while larger leaves can be steamed, stir-fried or added to soups and vegetable dishes.

Fast growing and highly productive, this variety is suitable for both baby leaf and mature leaf production. Its attractive foliage and reliable performance make it a favourite among home gardeners, market growers and salad mix producers.

Planting / Sowing

Sow seed 5 mm deep directly into prepared garden beds, containers or seedling trays. For baby leaf production, sow densely and begin harvesting from approximately 21 days after sowing. For mature plants, thin seedlings to 20–30 cm apart.

Grow in full sun to partial shade in fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost. Keep soil consistently moist and harvest regularly to encourage fresh growth. Baby leaves are ready in around 21 days, while full-sized plants can be harvested from approximately 45 days.

Baby Leaf and Microgreens offer a simple and nutritious way to add fresh homegrown greens, vitamins and minerals to your daily diet.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
