Brassica juncea var. rugosa

Red Giant Mustard is a popular Japanese heirloom producing large, tender leaves with rich purplish-red colouring and a bold, peppery flavour. Young leaves add colour and spice to fresh salads, while mature leaves become milder when lightly cooked, making them ideal for stir-fries, soups and steamed dishes. Fast growing and highly productive, it is an excellent choice for continuous harvesting throughout the cooler months.

Approximately 300 seeds per gram

Sow seed directly or raise seedlings, covering with approximately 5 mm of soil. Plant in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun or part shade, spacing plants 20–30 cm apart. Keep the soil evenly moist throughout growth. Harvest young leaves regularly for salads or allow plants to mature for cooking. Plants are ready to harvest in approximately 40–65 days.
