Tropaeolum majus

Trailing Mix Nasturtium is a vigorous, free-flowering variety producing a colourful display of blooms in shades of yellow, orange, scarlet and red throughout the warmer months. Its long trailing stems make it ideal for hanging baskets, window boxes, retaining walls and raised beds, where the foliage and flowers can cascade freely. It can also be trained to climb an upright support or allowed to spread as a dense, attractive groundcover.

The flowers and leaves are edible, adding a fresh peppery flavour to salads and garnishes, while the brightly coloured blooms attract bees and other beneficial pollinators to the garden. Nasturtiums are also widely used as companion plants, helping to attract beneficial insects and acting as a trap crop for aphids.

Easy to grow and highly adaptable, Trailing Mix performs best in full sun to partial shade and flowers abundantly with very little maintenance. It is particularly useful for softening hard edges, covering bare ground and adding colour to productive gardens.

Tropics: April to August
Subtropics: March to September
Mild climates: March to October
Cold climates: September to January

Planting / Sowing

Sow seed directly where plants are to grow, 10–15 mm deep in a sunny to partly shaded position. Keep soil evenly moist during germination. Space plants 30–40 cm apart to allow room for spreading growth. Provide a trellis, fence or other support if climbing is desired. Nasturtiums prefer well-drained soil and generally flower best when grown in moderately fertile conditions.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
