Tanacetum coccineum

Painted Daisy is a hardy perennial producing cheerful daisy-like flowers in rich shades of pink, rose and red, each with a contrasting golden-yellow centre. The flowers are carried on slender stems above finely divided foliage, creating a bright display through cottage gardens, borders and perennial beds.

The colourful blooms make excellent cut flowers and are highly attractive to bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects. Established plants form attractive clumps and can flower over several seasons, making Painted Daisy a useful long-term addition to pollinator and cutting gardens.

Plants prefer full sun to partial shade and fertile, well-drained soil. They perform particularly well in cooler and temperate climates and appreciate regular moisture during active growth.

Seed count: approximately 500 seeds/g
Approximately 100 seeds per packet

When to Plant (Australia)

Tropics: Autumn to winter
Subtropics: Autumn to winter
Mild climates: Autumn and spring
Cold climates: Spring or early autumn

Planting / Sowing

Sow into trays or pots, covering the seed lightly with seed-raising mix. Keep moist during germination but avoid waterlogging.

Transplant once seedlings are well established, spacing approximately 30–40 cm apart in full sun to partial shade. Regular deadheading encourages further flowering and established clumps can be divided as they mature.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
