Lathyrus odoratus

Incense Mix is a richly scented heirloom Sweetpea blend selected for its exceptional fragrance and classic cottage garden charm. The mixture produces an elegant medley of soft pastels and deeper tones including lavender, rose, cream and violet, carried on long stems perfect for cutting.

Growing approximately 1.5–2 m tall with support, this vigorous cool-season annual is ideal for climbing over trellises, fences, arches and other garden structures. The wonderfully fragrant flowers are a favourite for bouquets and floral arrangements, while blooms left in the garden are attractive to bees and other pollinating insects.

Sweetpeas thrive in cool growing conditions and perform best in full sun with rich, fertile, well-drained soil. Regular picking is one of the best ways to prolong flowering, preventing seed pods from developing and encouraging plants to continue producing blooms.

Seed count: approximately 10 seeds/g
Approximately 25 seeds per packet

When to Plant (Australia)

Tropics: Autumn to winter in cooler locations
Subtropics: Autumn to winter
Mild climates: Late autumn to early winter
Cold climates: Late winter to early spring

Planting / Sowing

Sow directly where plants are to grow, approximately 2–3 cm deep. Alternatively, raise in individual pots or cells and transplant carefully while young. Keep soil consistently moist during germination.

Space plants approximately 15–20 cm apart and provide a trellis, fence or other support for climbing. Regularly pick flowers and remove developing seed pods to encourage continued blooming.

Sweetpea seeds and other parts of the plant are not edible and should not be confused with edible garden peas.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
