Lathyrus odoratus

Mammoth Mix is a vigorous climbing Sweetpea producing large, beautifully fragrant flowers on long, strong stems. The mixture includes a rich range of colours including burgundy, scarlet, rose, lavender and white, creating a spectacular display through the cooler growing season.

Growing up to approximately 2.5 m tall with support, Mammoth Mix is ideal for covering trellises, fences and arches or adding height to cottage and cutting gardens. The large flowers and long stems make this an excellent variety for cutting, with regular picking encouraging plants to produce even more blooms.

Sweetpeas thrive in cool growing conditions and perform best in full sun with rich, fertile, well-drained soil. Provide sturdy support early so the vigorous vines can climb freely and keep plants regularly watered during active growth and flowering.

Seed count: approximately 10 seeds/g
Approximately 50 seeds per packet

When to Plant (Australia)

Tropics: Autumn to winter in cooler locations
Subtropics: Autumn to winter
Mild climates: Autumn to early winter
Cold climates: Autumn or late winter to early spring

Planting / Sowing

Sow directly where plants are to grow, approximately 2–3 cm deep. Alternatively, raise in individual pots or cells and transplant carefully while young. Keep soil consistently moist during germination.

Space plants approximately 15–20 cm apart and provide a sturdy trellis, fence or other support for climbing. Regularly pick flowers and remove developing seed pods to encourage continued blooming.

Sweetpea seeds and other parts of the plant are not edible and should not be confused with edible garden peas.

Due to quarantine restrictions, TAS has an 800g limit per each seed variety and WA has a 10,000 seeds limit per variety.
